Yes, that really is the REAL Ryder Cup.
John Glozek, Jr. is a 30-year veteran in the golf publishing business and one of the most versatile relationship builders we have today.
John grew up on Long Island. His first love before golf was music even though his father was a golf enthusiast. At the early age of 10 John started taking drum lessons, which ultimately lead to a professional music career as a drum instructor and a very proficient drummer in his own band that performed throughout the New York tri-state area in the mid -70’s and -80’s. Not completely satisfied with just playing, he eventually began to write and publish drum instructional material -- ultimately creating a magazine for drummers titled ‘Drum Tracks’ which was distributed world-wide.
There was also a period in John’s life where he was employed at Grumman Aerospace Corporation. It was there he finally became involved in golf. His dad said, “it was about time.â€
As with the magazine Drum Tracks, just playing golf was not enough for John. After researching and looking at the demographics of golf on Long Island, he decided there was a need and market for a regional golf magazine dedicated to Long Island golfers. In October 1989 he published the first issue of a new golf magazine named Long Island Golfer Magazine. After almost two decades, Long Island Golfer Magazine’s name was changed to Golfing Magazine and expanded coast-to-coast in major regional markets throughout the United States.
John is currently the President of the International Network of Golf, one of the golf industries largest associations bringing the golf media and golf industry together. It is through ING that John has developed a keen sense of relationship building.
Closer to home, John was the Commerce Bank Championship’s (a Champions Tour event) Pro-Am Director and Tournament Coordinator. He is also, since 2009, a member of Toastmasters International. He is proud to achieved the level of Advanced Communicator Bronze and Competent Leader Bronze. He is the Past President of Huntington Club (2011-2012), Past Area 61 Governor (2011-2012), and is the Assistant Division H Governor (2012-2013).
John is a member of Mill River Club and lives in Huntington (just six miles from the Bethpage Black course – home of the 2002 & 2009 U.S. Opens).
With over 30 years in the publishing business John realizes that it’s all about relationships.
Over the years he has learned the ins & outs of promoting, marketing, branding, advertising and sales. He has learned from some of the best in the business -- Peter Bales, Dom Famularo, Jeffrey Gitomer, Harvey Mackay, Darren LaCroix, Ben Paulino, Brian Tracy, Donald Trump, Howard Schultz, Rich Walker, and Larry Winget to name a few.
John is the proud founder of JOHN’s Chocolate Delights and a recent graduate of Stand-Up
University, a school designed for the teaching of fine Stand-Up Comedy.
Having had several US Opens (Shinnecock and Bethpage) and 145 golf courses in his backyard, John thrills at the attention Long Island receives and the relationships he builds — as he always says and truly believes, “It’s All About Relationships.â€
