Soldier On at Home - Second Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser

Charity Golf Event Helps Wounded Veterans and Service Dogs

The pristine golf course of Baiting Hollow, NY, is a long way away from the ravaged war zones of Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere in the Middle East. But on Wednesday, June 14, golfers at the former will tee off to aid those impacted by the latter.

Sponsored by Soldier On at Home, a foundation which helps wounded combat veterans and returning service dogs, their Second Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser will take place at the beautiful Baiting Hollow Golf Club.

The picturesque, 18-hole, par-70 course was designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, and is sited in Calverton, NY, on the bluffs of Long Island Sound on eastern Long Island. Known as a challenging-but-fair course, it features a grass driving range, a fantastic practice putting green, manicured greens and fairways, and a 25,000-square-foot Cedar Shake Clubhouse. Baiting Hollow Club has hosted numerous outstanding tournaments, as well as many charity events.

The Soldier On at Home outing will benefit wounded combat veterans who require job assistance and support for daily needs, along with returning service dogs, as well as working dogs who companion with veterans with special needs, including PTSD. Among other services, the self-funded association provides outpatient therapy, rehabilitation programs, and a wellness program for our wounded men and women and our dedicated service dogs.

The day will begin with a 10 a.m. registration and a noon shotgun start. Lunch and dinner are included, along with raffle tickets. The cost is $350 per golfer or $1,300 per foursome.

Sponsorships are available in varying price ranges:

The $10,000 General’s sponsorship includes two golf foursomes, a Baiting Hollow voucher for four golfers, a full-page ad in the golf program, prominent signage at the outing’s dinner and registration signs, and golf tags for each golfer featuring your logo;

The $5,000 Colonel’s sponsorship includes one golf foursome, a Baiting Hollow voucher for four golfers, a half-page ad in the program, prominent signage at either the outing’s lunch or breakfast signs, and your logo on each golf cart;

Friday June 30
3rd Annual Golf Joseph Ferriso Memorial Scholarship Fund

This year’s event will be held on Friday June 30, 2017, at the Middle Island Country Club, Middle Island, New York, a 9:30am Shotgun Start. We are expecting over 230 golfers and 70 guests to attend. We would be appreciative of any donations and/or contributions you can make, which would include, foursomes, raffle prizes, gift certificates, gift baskets or sponsorships of breakfast, lunch, dinner, tee sign or monetary donations to obtain additional prizes.

The golf outing is an event in which my family can pay forward with scholarships in remembrance of my son Joseph, who lost his life in a car accident in January 2015. Joe was the epitome of a well rounded student. He was a hard working over achiever. In High School, he was an Honor Student, Eagle Scout, Alter server, Athlete, All-State French Horn player, Respectful and a Leader. He always had a smile on his face. Joe participated in many charitable events and loved helping the less fortunate and younger people. At Hofstra University, Joe participated in many charitable events, studied Engineering and played for the Division 1 Men's Lacrosse Team. As a Lacrosse player he was nationally recognized as the 2015 Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Awards Finalist. Lastly, Joe donated his organs to Long Live NY to help four (4) people live and many others improve their lives.

Last year, the fund was able to give Scholarships to Seniors at two (2) different High Schools and Elementary Schools and was able to monetarily help four (6) less fortunate Boy Scouts attend summer camp to earn badges, to become better citizens and maybe an Eagle Scout. The fund also established a $25,000 endowment scholarship at Hofstra University.

If you would like to make a donation or golf, call Al Ferriso at 631-873-5632 or Email; aferriso@hotmail.com .. Thank You for your generosity. We truly appreciate your support.
